Is the spouse eligible for other military benefits after dissolution of marriage?
Military Law
Eligibility for military benefits depends on the length of the marriage in relation to the length of the military service. If a spouse is married for ten years to a serviceperson during ten years of active duty service, the spouse is entitled to direct payments of military pension if the spouse is awarded an interest in the military pension. If a spouse is married for twenty years to a serviceperson during twenty years of active duty service, the spouse is entitled to numerous benefits such as permanent medical coverage, military ID card, and base privileges.
