Not necessarily. In many cases, for a first offense, and for third degree felonies, there is no prison time. Whether or not there is prison time will depend on the charge and your prior record. The prosecutor will have to prepare a sentencing score sheet for your charge and your record. Prison time is recommended only if you exceed a certain point total on the score sheet.
