Know Your Rights

Nothing is more frightening than being arrested. You do have important rights. Often a situation may become worse because you do not exercise your rights.
DO NOT make any statement to any law enforcement officer. You have the right to remain silent.

DO NOT talk about your case to any other person except your attorney. Anyone else – your friend, your relative, your co-worker - may be made to tell the police and the court what you have said about this case.

DO NOT waive your right to your attorney. ASK to speak to your attorney.

DO NOT plead guilty or no contest (no lo contendre) until you have consulted with your attorney.

Always plead NOT GUILTY.

You may have other important rights. The law enforcement officer may not have probable cause to stop you. Once you were stopped, there may have been an improper search or an improper series of questioning against you. There may not be sufficient evidence to go forth with the case against you.

You have other important legal rights. If you were arrested, please contact us so we may discuss your rights and your possible defenses to the charges against you. Please contact us for more information.
