Property
Your marital property and debts will be divided. This is called “equitable distribution”. The Court normally divides marital property and debts equally. However, there are some circumstances where it is fairer to have one party pay certain debts in full, or receive more of the property. Property owned before the marriage or inherited property normally is not marital property, but sometimes can be divided in a divorce.
